I just had a conversation with someone about Senator Giffords a couple days ago and I wondered what happened to her. I hope she is recovering well. Having known someone really close who had extremely traumatic brain injuries, I know how gut wrenching and endless the recovery can seem. And the truth of the matter is that, most of the time, "recovery" is a bit of a misnomer, because the personality of the person is changed for ever by the brain damage. Sad sad sad... I'm happy she's making great progress, though. That's definitely the silver lining.
